SAN JOSE – Four members of a Gilroy-based street gang have been arrested in connection with a string of strong-arm robberies in San Jose, according to authorities.

A fifth suspect remains at large, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release Tuesday.
The arrests stemmed from an investigation into a robbery that happened on July 24 in the 2200 block of Eastridge Loop. Two suspects pushed a boy and ripped off his gold necklace, Shih said, adding that the suspects flashed gang signs and yelled gang slurs.
Detectives discovered a group of Gilroy gang members was responsible for a string of robberies between July and August, including the July 24 incident, Shih said.
Armed with guns and knives, the suspects initially targeted rival gang members but quickly began preying on “other victims of opportunity” in San Jose, Shih said.
Detectives identified five of the suspects and obtained arrest and search warrants for each of them.
Three men – ages 22, 19 and 18 – and a 17-year-old boy, all of Gilroy, were arrested between Aug. 16 and Oct. 3 on suspicion of strong-arm robbery, Shih said. The men were booked into Santa Clara County jail and the boy into juvenile hall.
