Mountain Range High administrator accused of sending inappropriate pictures to underage student

An administrator at Mountain Range High School was arrested on Monday on suspicion of sending “inappropriate” pictures to an underage student.

Tate Drane, 27, was arrested by Westminster Police Department on three charges, including sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, internet sexual exploitation of a child and internet luring of a child, according to a department release.

Several reports made over the weekend through Safe2Tell, an anonymous reporting hotline for students, stated the he sent “inappropriate photos to an underage student.” Drane was arrested after further investigation.

District administrators could not be reached Monday afternoon to answer questions about whether Drane was still employed with the high school. According to the Mountain Range High School 2024-25 student handbook, Drane is a dean of students. Drane’s LinkedIn indicates he has been employed by Adams 12 Five Star Schools for three and a half years. His biography on X.com also states he is the head coach for the Mountain Range High School women’s basketball team and head coach for Thornton High School football team.

The date for Drane’s court appearance has not yet been decided. Adams County Jail records did not include a listing for him as of Monday afternoon.
