Dodgers leave injured Alex Vesia and Miguel Rojas off NLCS roster

LOS ANGELES – Miguel Rojas and Alex Vesia are not on the Dodgers’ roster for their National League Championship Series against the New York Mets.

Rojas and Vesia were both dropped from the roster with injuries. In their places, outfielder Kevin Kiermaier and right-hander Brent Honeywell Jr. were added.

The NLCS begins Sunday at 5:15 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.

Rojas has been playing with a strained adductor muscle for several weeks. He left Game 3 of the NL Division Series against the Padres when the injury flared up again and did not play in the rest of that series.

With Rojas out, the Dodgers will play Tommy Edman at shortstop, opening up playing time for Kiké Hernandez in center field. Hernandez has an .899 OPS and hit his 14th career home run in 75 postseason games in the decisive Game 5 against the Padres.

Vesia suffered an intercostal injury in Game 5 and came out of the game after facing one batter. His injury leaves the Dodgers with just one left-handed pitcher on the NLCS roster (Anthony Banda).

The Mets, meanwhile, added Jeff McNeil to their roster for the best-of-seven series. McNeil suffered a fractured wrist on Sept. 6 and had been rehabbing in the Arizona Fall League.
