Attendees can meet local e-bike owners, hear their stories and ask all your questions about life with an electric ride. They can also learn about credits, rebates, grants, and loans that help lower the cost of buying an EV or e-bike. In Berkeley, the power for electric rides most likely already comes from clean energy: all Berkeley residential PG&E customers receive 100% solar and wind energy as their default electricity.

For those considering solar power for their own homes, come to Ride Electric to learn about available discounted solar programs. Street parking is limited. Please consider walking, taking BART to the North Berkeley station, or AC Transit Bus #52. Bike parking is available.

City Hall gallery presenting ‘Near and Far’ art exhibition

The city of El Cerrito Arts & Culture Commission is proudly presents the art exhibition “Near and Far,” featuring works by El Cerrito artist Mimi Sheiner.

The exhibit opened Aug. 27 at the El Cerrito City Hall Gallery Space, runs through Dec. 13 and offers a visual journey encompassing imagination, emotion, cultural exploration and a modern take on California Impressionism. This collection features small, jewel-like panels evoking contemplation and memories.

Inspired by California Impressionism and painted in shifting light conditions, Sheiner’s work echoes plein air painters from the past while also offering a fresh perspective. The paintings change in different lighting conditions as contemporary pigments reflect or absorb light differently in reaction to daylight and artificial light.

Sheiner’s paintings slow time down as she contemplates familiar scenes around the Bay Area long enough to paint them and when traveling with her paints. In the exhibit, small maps placed below the paintings help viewers locate where they were created. For more details online, visit el-cerrito.org/95/City-Hall-Gallery-Space.
