Pedestrian killed in I-76 crash in Brighton early Tuesday morning

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a Chevrolet Silverado driver on westbound Interstate 76 early Tuesday morning, according to the Brighton Police Department.

The driver called 911 just before 5 a.m. Tuesday and reported hitting a pedestrian, Brighton police said in a news release.

Officers found a man in the roadway between Bromley Lane and Bridge Street with severe injuries. Police officials did not say whether the man died at the scene or at a later time.

Investigators determined the man was walking when he was hit by the Silverado driver, who then pulled over and called police. The driver, a 38-year-old man, was not injured and did not appear to be impaired, police said Tuesday.

Brighton police did not say whether the driver was cited or arrested and could not immediately be reached for comment.

The pedestrian’s identity will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
