This week’s Daily News high school football rankings.
DAILY NEWS TOP 10
1. Sierra Canyon (3-3 overall, 1-0 Mission League)
The Trailblazers started Mission League play with a dominant 42-3 win over Chaminade. Dane Dunn rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns in his return from being injured and Jaxsen Stokes rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Dunn also caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Wyatt Becker, who completed 14 of 21 passes for 175 yards. Mikhal Johnson had three tackles for loss and a sack and Richie Wesley had two sacks.

2. Oaks Christian (4-2 overall, 1-0 Marmonte League)
Freshman quarterback Trey Towns went 7 of 9 passing for 117 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-19 win over Oxnard Pacifica. Stevie Amar caught all three touchdown passes. Easton Thompson had three tackles for loss and two sacks. Jamarey Smith grabbed two interceptions and had one pass breakup and Davon Benjamin recorded his second pick six of the season. The Lions have returned seven interceptions for touchdowns in six games.

3. Newbury Park (6-0 overall, 1-0 Conejo Coast)
The Panthers stayed unbeaten with a 35-6 win over Santa Barbara. Brady Smigiel passed for 195 yards and three touchdowns while Tyler Stromsoe rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Alberto Ayon caught three passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Shane Rosenthal has recorded at least one interception in five games this season.

4. Chaminade (1-5 overall, 0-1 Mission League)
Sophomore Carter Sobel made a 49-yard field goal in Chaminade’s loss to Sierra Canyon. Sophomore quarterback Cameron Pooley threw for 114 yards and Peter Atallah was the Eagles’ leading tackler with 10.

5. Simi Valley (6-0 overall, 1-0 Marmonte League)
The Pioneers have yet to lose a game, most recently beating St. Bonaventure 42-28. Tagg Harrison completed 27 of 38 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns while Brice Hawkins rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns. Hawkins had an additional 106 receiving yards and one touchdown on seven catches. Sophomore Denver Smith had two tackles for loss and nine tackles.

6. Thousand Oaks (4-2 overall, 1-0 Conejo Coast League)
The Lancers shut out Calabasas 37-0 to get back into the win column. Justin Lewis rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns and Ryan Leff made 4 of 5 PAT attempts and one field goal to add seven points to the scoreboard. Jameson Born had half a sack, two QB hurries and a tackle for loss.

7. Notre Dame (4-2 overall, 1-0 Mission League)
The Knights held Bishop Amat scoreless in the fourth quarter to come out with a 28-21 win in their Mission League opener. Elliot Cooper and Tre Fernandez each had one receiving touchdown and Luc Weaver had 91 receiving yards. Fernandez also returned the opening kick for a touchdown. Steele Pizzella threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another 86 yards and one touchdown. Max Martin-Beckmann had one interception and 11 total tackles.

8. Valencia (2-4 overall, 2-0 Foothill League)
Brady Bretthauer completed 15 of 18 passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in a 55-7 win over Canyon. Brian Bonner rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Nico Funez had one interception and five different players recorded a tackle for loss.

9. Hart (6-1 overall, 3-0 Foothill League)
Hart relied on its rushing attack and running back Zach Rogozik, who ran for 232 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Castaic. Sophomore Matix Frithsmith added 71 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Timothy Tadler II logged two interceptions and had eight total tackles.

10. Birmingham (1-4 overall, 1-0 West Valley League)
The Patriots’ tough nonleague schedule seemed to have prepared them well as they produced a 64-0 shutout of Chatsworth to start West Valley League play. Birmingham now has 43 straight wins in the CIF Los Angeles City Section.
