East Bay pets of the week for Oct. 11

Hi, I’m Cottontail! Looking for a fluffy, soft companion? With my name, you know I’m all about charm! I may not bounce like a bunny, but I’m just as cute and cuddly. Curious and playful, I love pouncing from one adventure to the next. I’ve got a gentle side too — give me some attention, and I’ll reward you with purrs and snuggles. Visit the website of the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society at berkeleyhumane.org to learn more and schedule a meeting with me.

Meet Frederick, a playful and fun-loving cat who’s ready to bring joy and light to your home. With his social nature and warm personality, Frederick is sure to make every day brighter. The East Bay SPCA offers walk-in adoptions at its Oakland and Dublin campuses from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For updated and real-time information on programs and offerings, visit eastbayspca.org/adoptions.

Looking for a sweet, laid-back, loving dog who would qualify for AARP if he were a human and will give you all of his big heart? Bordeaux may be the dog you’ve been waiting for! This 9-year-old is an affectionate gentleman whose dear face is dappled with kisses of white these days. His foster owner reports that he is 100% house trained, walks gently on leash, is fine with people and other dogs he sees while on a walk, knows sit, shake, spin, down and roll over and that “he’s a very smart boy.” To meet this pet at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, call 510-337-8565 or visit alamedaanimalshelter.org/adopt.

Sparticus is about 2 years old. A terrier mix, he’s crate trained, pretty good on leash but loves walks and is a really good car rider. Sparticus was picked up as a stray and misjudged by the shelter. He almost lost his life, and because of that but we put him with a foster where he’s come a long way. He would be best with an active, patient owner. For more information about this or any other adoptable pets with the Contra Costa SPCA, call Pat at 925-323-0667.
