National Taco Day 2024: Where and when to find deals

Taco Bell put its taco-serving competitors in an interesting spot when it managed to get National Taco Day moved from Oct. 4 to the first Monday in October.

Taco Bell arranged with the National Day Calendar to get the date switched and made the announcement just two weeks in advance.

So this year’s National Taco Day will be on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Other chains will be observing Tuesday as well, while some are sticking with the original day, a Friday. Some are offering deals for both.

Customers seeking discounts might stand to gain, if they can keep track of the dates.

Here are what some chains have announced for 2024 in news releases.

Del Taco: Oct. 1 will kick off a month of deals called Tacoberfest in the Del Yeah! Rewards app. Rewards members can get one free taco with any purchase on Oct. 1. The deal on Oct. 4 is a Beer Battered Crispy Fish Taco with $5 purchase. deltaco.com

El Pollo Loco: Local Rewards members can get three chicken tacos for $5 from Oct. 1 through Oct. 4. elpolloloco.com

Taco Bell: There will be hourly drops of $1 tacos for rewards members on the Taco Bell app between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 1. There will be 10,000 redemptions per hours. Items include a Crunchy Taco, a Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos and a Cheesy Gordita Crunch. tacobell.com
