Extra Oakland police will be present for final A’s game at Coliseum

OAKLAND —  Using staffing levels from prior Raiders games, Oakland police said Wednesday more than 100 officers will be assigned to the A’s last game ever at the Coliseum on Thursday.

The game is a sellout, with more than 40,000 fans expected to see the A’s take on the Texas Rangers. First pitch is scheduled for 12:37 p.m. PDT.

Officers will be inside and outside the stadium starting before the first pitch and there will be a deputy chief, captain and lieutenant present, commanding operations, officials said Wednesday.

No other police agencies will be working the game, Oakland police said.

Police also said the A’s also have increased private security details for the game.

Police said they “understand that this will be an emotional event for many. We have bolstered resources to ensure that the event is enjoyable for those in attendance and to ensure the safety of A’s fans, players, and staff.”
