“Suspicious” human remains found in Boulder County near Lyons

Sheriff’s deputies found human remains Tuesday in Boulder County and said the death was “suspicious.”

Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies found human remains in the 1000 block of Blue Mountain Road — northwest of Lyons in unincorporated Boulder County — according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

“The death is considered to be suspicious; however, we have no reason to believe there is a threat to public safety,” sheriff’s officials said in the release.

Investigators haven’t been able to determine the body’s gender “due to the condition of the remains,” the release stated. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the remains and notify the next of kin.
