Thriller! In its first ACC game, Stanford beats Syracuse with FG on final play

Stanford’s first ACC game won’t soon be forgotten.

After watching host Syracuse score a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Stanford answered with a drive that ended with Emmet Kenney kicking a 39-yard field goal as time expired to give the Cardinal a 26-24 victory.

Stanford improved to 2-1, 1-0. Syracuse dropped to 2-1, 1-1.

The big play on Stanford’s winning drive came when Ashton Daniels connected with Elic Ayomanor for 27 yards on fourth-and-9 from the Syracuse 45.

The pass play set up Kenney’s decisive field goal.

Daniels completed 23 of 38 passes for 178 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
