<p id=”par-1_48″>Weddings are supposed to be joyful occasions not only for the two people getting married but for all those gathered who are just as happy for them. However, there may be a few people at the ceremony who aren’t as elated for the couple saying “I do.” </p>

In his <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/prince-harrys-memoir-spare-now-become-one-most-discarded-books-time.html/?swcfpc=1″>explosive memoir<em> Spare</em></a> Harry, who stood by his brother’s side that day, did not mince words when revealing why he had a problem with that particular venue. </p>

<p id=”par-5_57″>During the drive from Clarence House that day as the Abbey came into view, Harry wrote, “I peered out of the window: Westminster Abbey. As always, my stomach lurched. I thought: Nothing like getting married in the same place where you did your mum’s funeral. I shot a glance at Willy. Was he thinking the same thing?”</p>
<p id=”par-6_19″>Harry went on to describe William’s royal wedding as “yet another farewell under this horrid roof” and “another sundering.”</p>
<p id=”par-7_59″>He wrote: “The brother I’d escorted into Westminster Abbey that morning was gone — forever. Who could deny it? He’d never again be first and foremost Willy. We’d never again ride together across the Lesotho countryside with capes blowing behind us. We’d never again share a horsey-smelling cottage while learning to fly. Who shall separate us? Life, that’s who.</p>
<p id=”par-8_42″>“I recall Kate walking down the aisle, looking incredible, and I recall Willy walking her back up the aisle, and as they disappeared through the door, into the carriage that would convey them to Buckingham Palace, into the eternal partnership they’d pledged.”</p>
<p id=”par-9_19″>The Duke of Sussex then revealed a one-word heartbreaking sendoff to his only sibling writing, “I recall thinking: ‘Goodbye.’”</p>

<p id=”par-11_39″>According to royal author and commentator Katie Nicholl, Harry’s words cued a few tears from some in attendance, including the bride. In the biography <em>Harry: Life, Loss and Love</em>, Nicholl shared just how touching Harry’s best man speech was. </p>
<p id=”par-12_29″>“It was affectionate, warm, and funny, and touched William deeply,” she wrote (per <a href=”https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1492247/prince-harry-kate-middleton-wedding-day-speech-evg” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Express</a>). “And when [Harry] said the couple’s decade-long romance was his inspiration … Kate shed a tear.”</p>
