Angels trade Carlos Estevez to Phillies for 2 prospects

The Angels traded closer Carlos Estevez to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for left-handed pitcher Samuel Aldegheri and right-hander George Klassen.

Estevez, 31, has 20 saves in 23 opportunities this season with a 2.38 ERA.

He has not allowed a run in his past 18 appearances covering 18 innings.

Aldegheri, a 22-year-old who was born in Verona, Italy, is 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA for Double-A Reading this season. He also made 13 starts for Single-A Jersey Shore and went 6-5 with a 3.18 ERA.

Klassen was a sixth-round pick by the Phillies in 2023. The 22-year-old is currently 1-2 for Jersey Shore with a 4.22 ERA.
