Bay FC will welcome a storied international soccer club to the Bay Area in about a month’s time.
Legendary Spanish club FC Barcelona will travel to San Jose and face off against the Bay’s NWSL team at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, Bay FC announced on Friday. FC Barcelona has won back-to-back UEFA Women’s Champions League titles.
Barcelona is the former club of Bay FC striker Asisat Oshoala. Bay FC acquired the Nigerian national from Barcelona in February, signing her to a three-year contract with an option for another season. Oshoala’s Barcelona contract was set to expire in June.

“Bay FC is building a global sports franchise grounded in the Bay Area. Both Bay FC and FC Barcelona are committed to growing women’s soccer here and abroad,” said Bay FC CEO Brady Stewart in a release. “The match will feature an unparalleled amount of talent, with World Cup champions and national team players across numerous countries, so we encourage fans to purchase tickets early, as we anticipate tickets will be flying off the site.”
