Westbound Interstate 70 closed near Vail for safety concerns

Westbound Interstate 70 is closed between Eagle and Vail for safety concerns, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

A tractor-trailer was stopped on the road and something was spilled across the highway near exit 171 as of 2:25 p.m., according to a CDOT highway camera.

Traffic is being diverted off of westbound I-70 at the Dowd Junction exit because of a vehicle fire, according to the Vail Daily.

The highway is closed between U.S. 6 and exit 169 for Eagle, state officials said in a travel alert.
