<p id=”par-1_50″>Kate Middleton and <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/meghan-markle/”>Meghan Markle</a> aren’t exactly best friends. The Princess of Wales and Duchess of Sussex first met back in 2016 after Meghan and her now-husband, Prince Harry, were set up on a blind date that worked out. Eventually, Harry and Meghan got serious, and Meghan met the family.</p>
<p id=”par-2_39″>Things didn’t instantly <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/meghan-markle-described-meeting-kate-middleton-first-time-with-1-simple-word.html/”>click between Meghan and Kate</a>, but Kate has always been polite and professional — so when a family member publicly called out Meghan’s controversial decisions, Kate was left “horrified” and has since “iced out” her relative.</p>

<p id=”par-3_57″>Kate and Meghan don’t have to be best friends, but the last thing Kate wants is for people to think she is the one creating problems. As far as royal reputations go, Kate is arguably the least controversial of any of the family members. She never says anything negative and never finds herself caught up in scandals.</p>
<p id=”par-4_66″>Earlier this year, Kate’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/kate-middleton-uncle-spills-surgery-secrets-reason-palace-staying-quiet.html/”>went on <em>Celebrity Big Brother UK</em></a>, which was already a questionable decision. But his comments about Meghan — and seemingly using Kate to boost his own fame — have left Kate and other family members no choice but to ice him out. Goldsmith previously said on the show that he thought Harry and Meghan should lose their royal titles.</p>
<p id=”par-5_82″>“It was no secret that Gary going into the <em>Big Brother</em> house wasn’t a particularly welcomed move,” a source told <a href=”https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1925700/princess-kate-uncle-gary-goldsmith-ibiza”>Express</a>. “Gary was quite surprised by the reaction to his appearance on the show, especially afterwards … Gary is very close to Carole, so it’s not something that’s going to cause any long-term damage, but there has been some distance placed between the information divulged.” Gary is reportedly spending some time in Ibiza away from his family to let the dust settle.</p>

<p id=”par-6_56″>It makes sense that Kate would be upset about her uncle given that she has shied away from making any public comments about Harry and Meghan. Although problems between the Wales and Sussex couples are widely known, they mostly stem from Harry and Prince William’s problems and have less to do with <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/meghan-markle-reportedly-offers-kate-middleton-olive-branch-end-feud-source-says-its-not-up-her.html/”>Kate and Meghan’s relationship</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-7_85″>In Meghan and Harry’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan did say that Kate was “a good person” and didn’t say much else about her. While the two women certainly aren’t friends, it doesn’t seem like they have any genuine bad blood but rather have become caught up in the issues between their husbands. At this point, it’s unlikely that Meghan and Kate will ever get close, but they can at least co-exist — and it’s fair that Kate was displeased with her uncle’s comments. </p>
