Wednesday, July 17, is a dog day in more ways than one.
It’s going to be hot throughout Southern California and it’s also National Hot Dog Day.
Three Southern California chains have announced the following promotions.
Dog Haus: The Pasadena-based chain is offering its rewards members a free Haus Dog at participating locations on July 17. There are half a dozen dogs to choose from, including a couple with chili. To participate, guests must join by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, July 16. doghaus.com

Hot Dog on a Stick: The chain that was founded near Muscle Beach is offering a one-day secret menu item on July 17. It’s called the Charlie, a beef or turkey dog placed inside a Cheese on a Stick. The chain also has a pet-friendly promotion going through Aug. 11. It’s a partnership with Milk-Bone. Customers get a free bandana and bag of Milk-Bone Minies with a $20 purchase. It’s part of an adoption project with HIT Living Dog Rescue that culminates in a party, 12-3 p.m. Aug. 11 at Santa Monica Brew Works, 1920 Colorado Ave., Santa Monica. hotdogonastick.com
Wienerschnitzel: Predictably, the Newport Beach-based chain has a deal on its signature Original Chili Dogs. It’s selling four for $4. The offer is good in-store only for sales in multiples of four with no substitutions. wienerschnitzel.com
