Mass shooting victim succumbs to injuries, marking Vallejo’s 11th homicide of the year

The Vallejo Police Department has confirmed the eleventh homicide of the year after one person succumbed to injuries that resulted from a June shooting in which three others were also shot.

Vallejo Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Rashad Hollis said the investigation into the shooting incident turned to a search for a homicide suspect after the Solano County Coroner’s Office informed officers on Thursday that one of the male victims involved in the incident had succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.

According to Hollis, the four victims were injured in a shooting incident that occurred at the intersection of Monterey Street and Springs Road just after 2:30 a.m. June 23.

The two victims were then transported to a local hospital for further treatment, said Hollis, while officers continued to survey the crime scene.

During the course of the investigation, officers also learned from dispatch operators that two additional adult male victims walked into a local hospital, both suffering from at least one gunshot wound, and it was determined that they were also involved in the Monterey Street incident.
