Disneyland closes 6 attractions during busy summer season

Disneyland will close six attractions for seasonal refurbishments during the hottest month of summer just before the Halloween crowds descend on the Anaheim theme parks.

Space Mountain, Disneyland Railroad, Disneyland Monorail, Animation Academy, Turtle Talk with Crush and Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome will temporarily close in August as part of Disneyland’s standard refurbishment schedule.

The six new attraction closures join the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes and Redwood Creek Challenge Trail that were already shuttered for refurbishment.

The Space Mountain indoor roller coaster in Tomorrowland will go down Aug. 5 for a monthlong seasonal refurbishment. A reopening date has not yet been set.

The Disneyland Railroad that makes a Grand Circle Tour around the park will close Aug. 5 while the Disneyland Monorail that connects Tomorrowland to Downtown Disney will close on Aug. 12. Reopening dates have not been set for either Disneyland rail line.

The Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln animatronics show closed in April with no reopening date set.

The Haunted Mansion closed in January for an extended renovation of the outdoor queue area that will add a new accessibility elevator for wheelchair users exiting the ride and a new retail shop at the attraction’s exit. The popular haunted house dark ride will return by Aug. 23 in time for the Halloween season.

Also not on the temporarily “out of order” list are several attractions that never returned following the yearlong pandemic closure that shuttered Disneyland and DCA.

Disneyland’s Star Wars Launch Bay is being used for Imagination Campus — an educational travel workshop that teaches students about the arts and sciences used in Disney theme parks.
