The blaze was reported around 1:30 p.m. on April 10 at the San Francisco Archers archery range on Rifle Range Road.
A witness snapped a picture of the suspect before he left the scene and provided it to the Pacifica Police Department. Police in turn shared the picture with the public.
“A community member recognized the subject, and provided detectives with information which eventually lead to his identification,” Detective Cpl. Brandon Smith wrote in a news release.
Detectives forwarded the case to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office and obtained a $50,000 warrant for the man’s arrest, according to Smith. The man was taken into custody without incident Tuesday and booked into county jail on an arson charge.
