16-year-old boy arrested in fatal California liquor store shooting

A 16-year-old boy suspected of fatally shooting a man in the parking lot of an Anaheim liquor store was arrested over Memorial Day weekend, police said Tuesday.

The shooting, which police believe was gang-related, occurred Friday, May 24 on the 900 block of South Anaheim Boulevard. Jesse Barragan, a 38-year-old Anaheim man, was found unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the parking lot of a liquor store. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the Anaheim Police Department said in a statement.

On Sunday, May 26, police arrested the 16-year-old boy in Garden Grove on suspicion of murder. Because of his age, his identity was not released.

Anaheim Police detectives are asking anyone with information about Barragan or the circumstances surrounding his death to contact the Anaheim Police Department at 714-321-3669 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
