Tyreek Hill, Chiefs wide receiver, under investigation for incident involving son (reports)


Tyreek Hill, a star wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, is under investigation over allegations of battery stemming from an incident earlier this week, according to multiple reports.

According to the Kansas City Star, the victim is Hill’s 3-year-old son, who suffered a broken arm. Hill’s fiance, Crystal Espinal, was included among “others involved.” As of Friday evening, Hill has yet to be accused of any crime, according to The Star.

According to KCTV5 in Kansas City, police were also called to Hill’s home in regards to a report of child abuse or neglect, which police closing the report three days later.

The Chiefs have released a statement regarding the incident:

“The club is aware of the investigation. We’re in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities. We’ll have no further comment at this time.”

While he was in college in 2014, Hill was accused of punching and choking Espinal, who was pregnant with the couple’s child at the time. Hill later plead guilty to those charges in 2015. In 2018, those charges were dismissed and expunged following the completion of his three-year probation, according to The Oklahoman.

This is the second time within the past year that such an incident involving a Chiefs player has come to light. In November 2018, video emerged of then-Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt shoving and kicking a woman at a hotel. The Chiefs released Hunt shortly after the video emerged. He has since signed with the Cleveland Browns and will be suspended for the first eight games of the 2019 regular season.
