Chick-fil-A will introduce a new twist on the chain’s lineup of frosted treats this spring.
Starting March 18, the Atlanta-based chain is releasing its new frosted key lime drink nationwide. The seasonal item will be available at all restaurants March 18 through May 25 or while supplies last, Chick-fil-A said in a statement.
The introduction of its frosted key lime drink comes a few years after the launch of its frosted lemonade in 2015 and other frosted drinks. The drink combines the chain’s vanilla IceDream, lemonade or diet lemonade and “a natural, sugar-free lime flavoring made from a blend of key limes, kaffir limes and Persian limes,” according to a press release.
“We are delighted to launch another seasonal, frosted treat this spring,” said Leslie Neslage, menu lead for the menu and packaging team at Chick-fil-A. “Frosted key lime is both tart and sweet and will be a delicious, lower calorie treat that all customers can enjoy throughout the day.”
The light treat was tested in restaurants last fall in Austin, Texas and “positive customer feedback confirmed the decision to launch the treat nationwide,” Chick-fil-A said.
A 16-ounce frosted key lime starts at $3.25 and ranges between 280-350 calories, depending on the type of lemonade in the drink.
The chicken sandwich chain recently proved itself to be growing as it jumped two spots in the latest ranking of the top 500 restaurant chains by Technomic, passing Burger King and Wendy’s.
Chick-fil-A’s sales increased 13.5 percent in 2018 to $10.18 billion and into the No. 5 spot, behind No. 1 McDonald’s, Starbucks, Subway and Taco Bell.
