Fortnite Valentine’s Day Event: Update 7.40 to unvault Cupid’s Crossbow weapon

Epic Games know how to throw a holiday-themed event, and Valentine’s Day is no different.

Fortnite’s Share the Love event, announced last week, will get underway proper on Wednesday, launching a series of new Overtime Challenges, Rewards and more for fans to enjoy right up until the launch of Fortnite Season 8.

The Valentine’s Day-themed event will run until February 27, with chances to earn a free wrap cosmetic skin, as well as many other unannounced items by completing challenges.

Epic Games is due to make some significant changes in the upcoming Fortnite 7.40 update.

These changes include planes no longer being able to smash through structures, and the Turbo Build delay is being decreased from 0.15s to 0.05s.

Among the tweaks and changes, new items will also be returning.

Players can look forward to the Cupid Crossbow returning as part of the Valentine’s Day celebrations.

This was confirmed via the in-game news feed, which is an early indicator of what Battle Royal players can look forward to.

The Fortnite news feed message said: “Triumphant Return! Cupid’s Crossbow will beunvaultedfor a limited time.

“Eliminate your opponents with stealth and precision.”

Cupid’s Crossbow was first available in 2018 as part of the big Valentine’s Day update from Epic Games.

The returning weapon fires Arrows, an unlimited ammo type which can be found from floor loot and treasure chests.

It comes in both Rare and Epic variants, and probably won’t be around for long.

The Crossbow will likely be re-vaulted at the end of the Share The Love Event, so expect it to disappear before Fortnite Season 8 starts.

The 7.40 patch was expected to go live today, Tuesday February 12, but it is believed to be delayed.

Players will have to wait at least one more day before the Fortnite v7.40 update.

Epic Games confirmed they will release the update on Wednesday, February 13.

This is just in time for the actual Valentine’s Day, which is always celebrated on February 14.

We still aren’t sure what time the Fortnite 7.40 update will go live, but odds are it will drop at “8am Eastern Time”, which is 1pm GMT, according to Fortnite Intel.

The update will bring plenty of new, additional Overtime Challenges, which will offer five new rewards.

We know this will include the Valentine Wrap and Vines Contrail, and Battle Pass owners will also be able to access new unlockable styles for the Trog, Powder, and Onesie outfits.

But as with all things Fortnite – given the frequency at which it is updated – stay tuned for more info throughout the day.
