Former Today co-host Tamron Hall is back with new Disney/ABC daytime talk show

Daytime television is about to get a whole lot more interesting with its latest addition: Tamron Hall.

The former Today co-host has finally found a place to land at Disney/ABC, one of her former network’s biggest rivals. Hall is set to develop and host a new daytime show for the company that will premiere in the fall of 2019.

The veteran host was a fixture on MSNBC for 10 years before making the switch to co-hosting NBC’s Today show, where she became the first African-American woman to host the program. After three years at Today, Hall decided to leave NBC when the network announced it would dedicate the third hour of the morning show to newcomer and former Fox News host Megyn Kelly.

Hall’s screen time has since been limited to hosting ID Discovery’s Deadline: Crime With Tamron Hall. She had also agreed to develop a talk show for the Weinstein Company before Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct allegations surfaced, Page Six reports. Her deal with the company quickly ended after the scandal, which freed her up to explore other options.

In a statement, Hall expressed how thrilled she is to make this new leap and create an “unconventional, fun, intimate, and sometimes even raw” show with Disney/ABC. “My new partners appreciate and respect the relationship I’ve built with my audience and know that if we create television worth watching, they’ll join us for the ride,” said Hall.

Disney/ABC has had trouble in recent years with solo daytime hosts succeeding — Katie Couric being the most recent example — but with Hall’s track record, she just might be able to break the curse. Read more about her new gig at the Los Angeles Times.
