South San Jose homicide victim identified


SAN JOSE — The victim of a fatal shooting Sunday night in South San Jose has been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office as Lorenzo Nava, 19, of San Jose.

Officers were called just before 7 p.m. to the 200 block of Tradewinds Drive, west of Oak Grove High School, after reports of a shooting. They arrived to find Nava suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Nava was taken to the hospital, where he died from his wounds.

As of Thursday, police had not released information about possible suspects or associated vehicles.

There have been 27 homicides recorded in San Jose this year, compared to 37 at the same point in 2016.
